Many car owners looking to sell their car have a hard time finding buyers for their cars, particularly if they are wanting a quick sale in order to buy a newer car, or go interstate or overseas, or any number of reasons for wanting to eliminate the time and hassle that is often involved in selling a car.
When you trade your car for cash, you eliminate those difficulties. Of course, because you are going to get a quick sale, you can’t necessarily expect the best price for your car. If you want the best price, then you should advertise your car in your local newspaper, in the TradingPost.com.au or on CarSales.com.au. Of course, there are other options for selling your car, such as Ebay.com.au or Gumtree.com.au but because of the nature of those sites, and the expectations of the buyers who search for items on those sites, you will undoubtedly need to compromise on price if you’re after a fast sale. And you will still have to think about how to word your advertisement, figure out a fair price yourself, and then deal with possibly dozens of calls from interested buyers, and then with prospective buyers coming around to look at the car, take it for a test drive, make you an offer, and on it goes. Time and hassle! If you have the time, and don’t mind the hassle, then by all means go with one of those 3 sites, or with a classified ad in your local newspaper.
Trade your Car for Cash – the Options
Newspaper classified ad – you might get your best price with this option, but you have to pay for the ad (which will appear once, or several times, depending upon what you request), you may receive some assistance with the wording of your ad, but you usually pay per word, so keeping the ad short and sweet will probably be important, so you may not be able to say everything you want to about your car, then once the ad is published usually a few days later, you will need to field calls from interested buyers, make arrangements with the interested ones to come to view the car at a time that suits them and you, allow these buyers to test drive your car, and then negotiate a price with them. You may eventually sell you car this way, and you may even get the price you want. If it doesn’t sell, you may need to place repeat ads. The process may take a week or two, or could take months, or you may not manage to sell your car at all.
TradingPost.com.au – again, you might get your best price with this option, but you have to pay for the ad (which will be on display for 12 months – I wonder why they run the ads for up to 12 months? – could it be that a significant proportion of items for sale take many months to sell?!). You will need to carefully word your ad for maximum buyer interest, wait for calls or emails from interested buyers, take those calls or respond to their emails, make arrangements with the seriously interested buyers to come to view your car at a time that suits them and you, allow them to test drive your car, and then be prepared to negotiate with them on price. You may eventually sell your car this way, and you could even get the price you want. It could take a few days or a few months. Or you may not get the price you want at all.
CarSales.com.au – once again, you might get your best price with this option, but you have to pay for the ad (which will be on display for 3 months), carefully word your ad for maximum buyer interest, wait for calls, texts or emails from interested buyers, take calls from interested buyers, and respond to their text or email enquiries, make arrangements with the genuine buyers to come to view the car at a time that suits them and you, allow these buyers to test drive your car, and negotiate a price. Eventually you may well sell your car, and you may even get the price you want. If it takes longer than 3 months, you will need to pay for a fresh ad. The process could take a few days or a few months. Or you may not be able to sell for the price you want.
EBay.com.au or Gumtree.com.au – both of these sites (as well as a few others) are seen as “bargain” sites – sites where people go who are looking for a bargain. Is it possible to sell your car on these sites – yes, it is. Is it possible to get top dollar for your car – probably not. In this respect, the price you may expect to receive may be comparable to the price you may get here at Trade Car for Cash. And there is no cost associated with placing an ad on these sites. But – and this is a big but – you are still going to need to craft a compelling ad that will draw people’s attention to your ad, take calls or answer emails from prospective buyers, make arrangements with the buyers who want to see your car for them to come and view the car at a time that suits them and you, allow these buyers to test drive your car, and then negotiate a price – a price that is likely to be on the low side as compared to the market value of your car.
TradeCarForCash.net.au – we believe that Trade Car for Cash is the most effective way of selling your car for cash today. And here’s why … On this site:
* you will not need to write a nice ad for your car,
* you will not need to make arrangements with a multitude of prospective buyers who are interested in looking at your car,
* you will not need to find time to be available to have prospective buyers come to look at your car,
* you will not need to allow several buyers take your car for a test drive, and
* you will not be negotiating price with a buyer who has no real idea about the true value of your car on a fast cash basis.
On the other hand:
* you will receive between 1 and 3 calls (usually just 1) from a car dealership interested in paying you fast cash for your car,
* you will be quoted a fair price taking into account that you are after cash on the spot while eliminating all the time and hassle of finding your own buyer (so the price you are offered will be less than the price you may receive if you choose instead to spend the time and go through the hassle of selling your car privately),
* you will usually receive more than you would if you trade your vehicle in at a dealer for a newer car,
* you will be able to make arrangements to bring your car in and walk out with the agreed amount of cash probably on the same day if you wish,
* you will be able to leave the transfer of registration in the hands of the dealer,
* you will save time, and
* the whole process will be hassle-free!
